Overview:
Utah State University seeks a dynamic artist-teacher of French horn. This is an academic-year (9-month) position to begin August 1, 2023 and continue through the 2023-2024 academic year. Review of applications begins June 15, 2023 and continues until filled.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include recruiting, teaching, and administration of the horn studio; coordinating and conducting appropriate brass master classes; and assisting in the instrumental performance, band, and music education programs. The preferred candidate may also perform in the faculty woodwind quintet, and additional duties will be assigned based on the strengths of the successful candidate and departmental needs.
Qualifications:
DMA preferred. Master’s degree required. Candidates without a DMA will be hired at the rank of Temporary Instructor. The successful candidate will be an accomplished teacher and performing musician with demonstrated success in recruiting and working in a collegiate environment. An engaging teaching manner and outstanding interpersonal skills are essential.

Administered by the Caine College of the Arts, the Music Department has 30 full-time and 38 part-time faculty members serving approximately 250 music majors. Located in the Chase Fine Arts Center, departmental facilities include teaching/rehearsal space; faculty offices; the 1,700-seat newly remodeled Daines Concert Hall; and, the award-winning 400-seat Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall dedicated in January of 2006. The Department offers the Bachelor of Music in Performance, the Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy, the Bachelor of Music Education, a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy, a Bachelor of Arts in Music, a Master of Music in Piano Performance & Pedagogy, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting, a Master of Music in Voice Performance, and a Master of Music in Guitar Performance.
